 METROPOLITANA

Similar to Naples' Metropolitana FS (Line 2), a metro-like service is operated in Palermo, with trains every 30 minutes running to the airport. This service is currently being upgraded creating a 'Passante Ferroviario' between Roccella and the airport, which will eventually be complemented with a circular route around the city centre (integrating the existing branch to Giachery, which is currently operated as a shuttle from Notarbartolo).

17 Feb 2016: Lolli, Guadagna & Maredolce stations opened
07 Oct 2018: Sferracavallo and La Malfa stations opened; Tommaso Natale, S. Lorenzo Colli and Francia stations put below ground, though in an open cutting.
