Dakar is the capital city of Senegal, located at the western tip of the country, with some 4 million inhabitants in the metropolitan area.

TER (Train Express Regional): S-Bahn/RER-style suburban rail system built parallel to existing railway, with trains every 20 minutes (every 10 minutes in peak hours), operating with Alstom Coradia Polyvalent EMUs.

Officially inaugurated on 14 January 2019, but regular passenger service was only launched on 27 December 2021 between Dakar Station and the new town of Diamniadio (36 km).

19 km extension to the airport is planned.
