Metropolitan Rail Network

- 5 lines radiating from Perth city centre, with through service on Fremantle - Midland branches, and Butler - Mandurah branches

- every 15 minutes during daytime service

- 1067 mm - narrow gauge (East Perth - Midland section with 3-rail track 1067/1435 mm; Thornlie branch single-track)

- Subiaco and Elizabeth Quay stations are underground; Perth Station is underground on the north-south route, but on the surface on the east-west route.

07 Aug 2005: Beckenham Junction - Thornlie
15 Oct 2007: Perth - Esplanade (now Elizabeth Quay)

23 Apr 2017:
Aubin Grove station added on Mandurah Line

- underground airport branch to be built by 2020
