Blue Line - light rail system LYNX (30 km):

- initial section 7th Street to I-485/South Blvd (15.1 km with 15 stops) opened 24 Nov 2007

- northern extension from 7th Street to UNC Charlotte Main (14.9 km with 11 stops) opened 16 March 2018

- operating every 7.5 min during peak hours, and every 15 min at other times.

- rolling stock: Siemens Avanto S70, standard gauge

Part of the route is shared by the Charlotte Trolley, a heritage tram line.

Gold Line - a modern streetcar line (though initially operated with heritage rolling stock):

- the first 2.4 km section from CTC Arena to Hawthorne/5th opened on 14 July 2015, but closed on 3 Jun 2019 to allow for its extension and upgrading

- on 30 Aug 2021, it was extended west from Charlotte TC to French Street and east from Hawthorne/5th to Sunnyside Avenue (4 km)
